Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 July 2026

The short version: MarkShot runs entirely on your device. Your screenshots are never uploaded anywhere, there are no accounts, and we collect no analytics or personal data. The only network request the extension can make is license-key validation when you activate Pro.

What MarkShot does with your screenshots

Captures are taken by your browser, edited in a local editor tab, and saved to your clipboard or downloads folder. Image data is held temporarily in your browser's local extension storage while it moves from the capture step to the editor, and never transmitted off your device. We cannot see your screenshots — there is no server to send them to.

Data we collect

None. MarkShot contains no analytics, no tracking, no error reporting and no accounts.

The one network request: Pro license activation

If you buy MarkShot Pro and enter a license key, the extension sends that key to our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to activate and periodically re-validate it. That request contains the license key and a generic instance name (for example "MarkShot (Windows)"). Payment itself happens on Lemon Squeezy's checkout pages and is governed by the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy; we never see your card details.

Browser permissions MarkShot asks for, and why

Data retention & your rights

Everything MarkShot stores lives in your browser's extension storage and is removed when you uninstall the extension. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on request — though under the GDPR you can always contact us with questions.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
