Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

The short version: MarkShot runs entirely on your device. Your screenshots are never uploaded anywhere, and we collect no analytics or personal data. The only network requests the extension can make are license activation when you unlock Pro, and — only if you click it — an optional "Restore purchase with Google" lookup.

What MarkShot does with your screenshots

Captures are taken by your browser, edited in a local editor tab, and saved to your clipboard or downloads folder. Image data is held temporarily in your browser's local extension storage while it moves from the capture step to the editor, and never transmitted off your device. We cannot see your screenshots — there is no server to send them to.

Data we collect

None. MarkShot contains no analytics, no tracking, no error reporting and no accounts.

Network requests: Pro license activation

If you buy MarkShot Pro, the extension sends your license key to our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to activate and periodically re-validate it. That request contains the license key and a generic instance name (for example "MarkShot (Windows)"). This happens whether the key is entered by hand or handed over automatically by our post-checkout page. Payment itself happens on Lemon Squeezy's checkout pages and is governed by the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy; we never see your card details.

Optional: "Restore purchase with Google"

If you reinstall MarkShot and click Restore purchase with Google, the extension asks Google to confirm your email address (a standard sign-in prompt; MarkShot only requests your email, nothing else) and sends that proof to our restore service, which checks Lemon Squeezy for a purchase under that email and returns your license key. Nothing is stored on the server — it looks the purchase up and forgets the request. If you never click the button, none of this happens.

Browser permissions MarkShot asks for, and why

Data retention & your rights

Everything MarkShot stores lives in your browser's extension storage and is removed when you uninstall the extension. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on request — though under the GDPR you can always contact us with questions.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
